Rarely words fail me but the shocking news of the two Police Officers murdered in Manchester is beyond sense. I would seriously feel wrong to write anything funny tonight.

I am not one to shy away when the Police get it wrong, or praise when they get it right but this goes beyond all that. It is a tragedy when someone doesn’t return home to loved ones and doing so in the line of duty, doing what they do for us is so much more than that. My thoughts, for what they are worth,  are with Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes, their families and loved ones. There is a book of condolence on the GM Police website. I hope that their memory stands as a lasting reminder of the bravery and standard Policing should set itself.
