This morning, I had am email from reader Mike Leonard. I’m very interested in this, because it seems to nail a persistent legend, that of someone drowning by driving a car into Chasewater.

A bit of digging turned up the following article. What it doesn’t make clear is that Milhench was jailed for forging Harold Wilson’s signature. This is a fascinating bit of history that deserves closer scrutiny. Anyone got anything more?

It seems this wasn’t Ronald’s only brush with notoriety. In 1995, he was apparently jailed for five years in Hong Kong for possessing a loaded, unlicensed revolver and a fake passport. The report linked suggests he moved to the Philippines after completing a three year term in the UK.
